These beautiful flasks are suited for both hot and cold beverages, and feature 'ōhi'a lehua blossoms as well as sprigs of the plant called liko. Created as a tribute to the native endangered 'ōhi'a trees found mainly on the "Big Island" of Hawai'i, where it is one of the first plants to push through the cooled lava flows. Prominent in Hawaiian culture, it was believed that picking a blossom would bring needed rainfall. Modern science tells us that the filiments of the blossoms do indeed draw moisture and are essential to the maintenance of our fresh water table beneath all the islands. Tragically, a blight called Rapid 'Ōhi'a Death is threatening to wipe out these trees. A portion of the sales of this flask will be donated to the Lyons Estate to help fund their efforts to save Hawai'i's 'ōhi'a trees.
